Lehighton Borough Council welcomed two new faces to its board at its reorganization meeting on Monday.

Councilman Jared McEvoy and Councilwoman Lisa Perry joined the board after winning their first terms in office this past November.McEvoy, along with Councilman Darryl Arner, were sworn in by borough Mayor Tom Mace.Following the swearing in, council voted 6-1 to reappoint Councilman Grant Hunsicker as council president. Councilman Joe Flickinger cast the sole no vote.Afterward, Hunsicker told the board he was grateful for his reappointment."I want to thank everybody who voted for me tonight," Hunsicker said.Council then voted 4-3 to reappoint Councilman Scott Rehrig as council vice president. Councilwoman Helen Torok, Flickinger and Perry were opposed.Nicole Beckett was reappointed borough manager and Brenda Koons as borough secretary.Other appointments included:• Cathy Smith, borough treasurer/assistant secretary• Kim Rubin, assistant secretary/treasurer• Lonny Armbruster, Light & Power supervisor• Barry Fisher, assistant Light & Power supervisor• Kris Kunkle, public works supervisor• Tom Evans, recreation director• Bruce Steigerwalt, borough engineer• James Nanovic, borough solicitor• Barry Isett & Associates, zoning/code enforcement officer and building code officer, on a 6-1 vote, with Flickinger opposed.• Felicia Pilla, health officer, on a 6-1 vote, with Rehrig opposed.• Patrick Mriss, fire chief• Michael Mriss, assistant fire chief• Brian Biechy, police chief• The Times News, as the official public notification• System Design Engineers, sewage enforcement officers• Dennis Bauchspies, Lehighton Canal Recreation Commission• Bessie Bauchspies, library board• Scott Rehrig, council representative for Police Pension Committee• Nicole Beckett as delegate, and Jared McEvoy as alternate delegate, to the Carbon Count Tax Collection Committee• Joe Flickinger, as voting delegate, and Grant Hunsicker as alternate, for the Carbon County Council of Governments.Other actionAlso on Monday, council:• Appointed James Danner as part-time patrol officer, pending pre-employment physical and screenings.• Adopted, on a 6-1 vote, with Flickinger opposed, a resolution to allow absent council members to participate in council meetings via electronic means.
