East Penn Township board of supervisors Chairman Dean Kercsmar had a little advice for the 2016 incoming members: Use common sense.

"Basic common sense, that's what you need. Anybody can be a couch quarterback. It's hard work to do the job," he said. He advised the new members that cooperation is the best way to get things done."Don't sit and throw stones, talk to each other like humans."Kercsmar thanked his co-supervisors for the hard work everyone put in over the past six-year term."After all the beatings, it gives you a sense of accomplishment. It's a thankless job and I just want to tell you how much I appreciate it."The township will see four newly elected supervisors with Republican William G. Schwab, Republican Alice Berger, and Democrat Guy Barry, all to six-year terms taking over for Chairman Dean R. Kercsmar, Vice Chairman Jacob Nothstein and David B. Bryfogle. Republican Richard T. DeLuca was voted in for a two-year term.The 2016 board will see a little extra income with the sale of two township vehicles.During the year-end meeting the current board agreed to sell its Truck 29, a 1985 Ford L9000 dump truck with attached snowplow, to Duane Schleicher with the highest bid of $4,110. The former police Cruiser 21, a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria was sold to Tim Strohl for an even $800.
