It's been so long since our area has had to deal with winter weather that preparing for it may not come as second nature.

But it doesn't have to be a challenge, according to Jack Steele, an associate at M&S Hardware in Tamaqua.Steele shared some tips we should follow when it comes to dealing with icy conditions.• Have de-icer on hand for your windshield.• Be sure your vehicle has a good pair of windshield wipers.• Wear cleats for your shoes when walking on the ice.• Wear proper clothing when venturing outdoors.• Do not go outside unless it's absolutely necessary.• Do not go outside to do your sidewalks while it's actually snowing or sleeting.Terry Ahner
