DECEMBER 24, 1993Continuing his longtime position of being opposed to the use of public funds for drug prevention and rehabilitation programs, Carbon County Commissioner Thomas C. Gerhard twice voted against applications of state and federal funding available through the PA Commission on Crime and Delinquency.Commissioners Dean D.W. DeLong and John D. Mogilski, however, cast affirmative votes for the programs, which will give Carbon a pair of grants exceeding $60,000.Gerhard said he will continue to maintain this position "until someone on the federal and state levels can show me they're doing something about drug use and abuse."
