Two hurt in separate Hometown crashes

Police and emergency responders were kept busy Friday evening with two separate car crashes in one hour along the Route 309 corridor in Rush Township.

Crews were dispatched to Claremont Avenue (Route 309) and TIDE Road near HT Commons Shopping Center about 6:15 p.m. for a two-car crash in the area of the traffic control signals.A female driver was taken to a local medical facility for treatment of injuries in that collision.At 7:15 p.m., responders again were dispatched to Claremont Avenue for a two-car collision at Hometown's Five Points intersection.In that crash, a female driver was taken to a hospital for treatment.Responding in addition to Rush Township police were fire companies from Hometown and Quakake, Tamaqua Rescue Squad, ambulances from Tamaqua and Lehighton, Hometown fire police and Hope's Collision and Towing, Tamaqua.The Friday crashes were the second and third in two days.On Thursday, a two-car crash just east of the Hometown intersection injured one.
