Three defendants who previously pleaded guilty in Carbon County court to driving under the influence were sentenced Nov. 20 by Judge Joseph J. Matika.

Aaron Joseph Zink, 34, of Lehighton, was arrested on Aug. 26, 2014, along Main Street by Weatherly police. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Matika sentenced Zink to serve 34 days in prison followed by 58 months and 26 days in the county's Intermediate Punishment Program (house arrest) with the first 26 days spent on electronic monitoring, pay a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months, render 100 hours of community service and zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use. He was given credit for 34 days spent in an inpatient drug rehabilitation program and paroled.Dennis Paul Boileau, 47, of Albrightsville, was arrested on Oct. 25, 2014, at routes 903 and 534 by Kidder Township police. A test showed 0.23 BAC. He also pleaded to driving under suspension-DUI related.On the suspension charge Matika sentenced him to serve 90 days in jail, a fine of $1,000, render 50 hours of community service when released on parole, and zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use. On the DUI charge he was sentenced to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $300 and one-year license suspension. The term runs consecutive to the suspension charge.He will begin the jail term on Nov. 29 at 9 a.m. and serve it on consecutive three-day terms.Kelvin Williams, 43, of Hillside, New Jersey, was arrested on Feb. 4 along Route 209 by Lansford police. He refused a test and will lose his license for a year for the refusal.Matika sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, another year license suspension and render 25 hours of community service. He began the jail term immediately.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
