Panther Valley School District is taking additional steps to end concerns over insects in the district's intermediate school.

Earlier this month, parents decried the district for not keeping them updated about insects in the school.Parents said that their children reported seeing cockroaches in the intermediate school building.District officials have not confirmed publicly that the insects are cockroaches.After saying that the district's regular insect management program was taking care of the problem, superintendent Dennis Kergick said Friday that officials hired a professional exterminator, Seitz Bros., for the intermediate school.Kergick sent a letter home to parents Friday explaining that the intermediate school would be closed Saturday, and would reopen for classes Monday.On Monday, Kergick said he had no comment on the situation, and the administration's response to the issue should speak for itself.
