Help needed to install smoke alarms

The Retired Senior Volunteer Program of Carbon County is being asked by the American Red Cross for help in the upcoming Home Safety Campaign held from 1:30 to 5 p.m. Nov. 22.

On Nov. 20 volunteers will canvass the blocks of South Second Street, knocking on doors of apartments and houses, handing out Home Fire Safety Information and asking residents if they have working smoke alarms. Residents will be given the chance to sign up for the installation of a 10-year smoke alarm at no cost.On Nov. 22, volunteers are needed to help install the alarms. Volunteers will receive a brief training session and all the materials needed for installation. The volunteers, along with a trained Red Cross person, will go as a team to install the smoke alarms.Other volunteers are needed at the Red Cross site to register and greet volunteers and help with the food/drink canteen.At the end of the event, pizza will be served and a drawing for prizes will be held for volunteers.Call RSVP at 610-509-4483 to sign up or for more information.
