Hit-and-runs crashes involve Carbon drivers

Two hit-and-run crashes, both occurring in Lehigh County, involved two local drivers as victims.

State police at Fogelsville said Brad K. Hunsicker, 42, of Lehighton, was a victim in a hit-and-run on Sept. 28 about 5:50 a.m. along Route 22, west of the Interstate 78 split in Upper Macungie Township. Troopers said Hunsicker was traveling westbound when the operator of a tractor with trailer rig attempted to change into the far right lane. The tire/lig nuts of the rig slightly struck Hunsicker’s 2006 Nissan Altima. After impact the truck driver continued westbound.Hunsicker was not injured. Troopers said the fleeing rig was white in color and appeared to have New Jersey registration.The second hit and run was reported on Oct. 15 about 10:48 p.m. Upper Macungie Township police said a vehicle operated by Daniel Rotondo, of Palmerton, was struck in the rear bumper by another vehicle whose driver then fled the scene. The incident occurred at the intersection of Route 100 and Main Street in Fogelsville.
