For a while now local residents had thought that the Brodheadsville Inn was going to make a comeback. The inn, located at the corner of routes 209 and 715, has been empty for many years, and several years ago a plan was filed with the township to restore the building and turn it back into a restaurant.
More recently, Graystone Capital Inc. has filed a new set of preliminary plans with the township for a one and a half story medical office/clinic at the location. The property is still listed as belonging to Jerry K. and Kimberly A. Romascavage of Saylorsburg. It is the understanding of the township that the property will be sold to Graystone, and the plan is to develop it into a medical clinic under St. Luke's."The plans we have seen are preliminary, and it is our understanding that a new set of preliminary plans will be submitted at next week's planning meeting," said Matthew Neeb, township planning/zoning director. "The plans on file for the Brodheadsville Inn will have to be withdrawn before this project can be approved."The lot in question is located in a village commercial/residential zoned area. The proposed 15,000 square foot building will require a conditional use approval. The intersection of Routes 209 and 715 is currently under a major reconstruction by PennDOT. The PennDOT plan actually includes many improvements to the lot which includes sidewalks and a possible shared use driveway which would serve both the medical building and Kresge Funeral Home. Also on next week's planning agenda is a conditional use conditional use request by Rouge Audio Inc.The planning meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday.
