A retirement dinner for Lt. Gen. Rhett Hernandez will be held at 5 p.m. Nov. 7 at the Blue Shamrock Country Club in Palmerton.

Hernandez and his wife, Pat, grew up in Palmerton and graduated from Palmerton High School in 1971. He went on to West Point Military Academy, graduated and served from 1976 through 2013 in various combat and noncombat assignments. His last position was as the commanding general of the newly formed U.S. Army Cyber Command in Fort Belvoir, Virginia.The event begins with some socializing, followed by a full course dinner and a short program to honor the general for his service to our country.
