The book club which meets at St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton, will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday. The book they will discuss is "The Nightingale" by Kristen Hannah. Join together for a meal of lasagna, salad, garlic bread and cookies for dessert.Donations in the amount of $177.50 last month were given to the CACPAC food pantry. All are invited.Food pantryThe CACPAC Food Pantry will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Oct. 16. The food pantry is located at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton. Donations of nonperishable food items are always welcome, as well as personal care items.Palmerton VFWThe Palmerton Memorial Post 7134 will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the VFW Post, 2020 Forest Inn Road, Palmerton. The group welcomes veterans to join them. They meet the second Monday of each month.Palmerton American LegionThe Palmerton American Legion Post 269 will meet at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 26, at the VFW Post, 2020 Forest Inn Road, Palmerton. They meet the fourth Monday of each month. The kitchen will be open.CROP WalkSt. John's Lutheran Church, 2915 Fireline Road, Palmerton will be the starting point for this year's CACPAC CROP Walk that will go from St. John's to First UCC on Delaware Ave. This year's walk is about 3.2 miles.
