Eight first-time offenders were placed in Carbon County's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Thursday by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program their record his wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, they would then face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.All were placed for a year.Michael Bernard Andrews, 48, of Lehighton, was placed on a charge of driving under the influence. He was arrested on April 12 along Route 443 in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.22 BAC.He was assessed $550 for the cost of the program and his license suspended for 60 days.Austin Joe Miller, 20, of Lehighton, was placed on a simple assault charge. He was arrested on May 29 by Lehighton police who charged he shot a juvenile twice with a BB gun. The juvenile did not sustain any serious injuries. The incident occurred in the area of 216 S. First St.He was assessed $450 and ordered to make restitution, if any, to be determined by the adult probation office.Deborah Ann Sylvester, 51, of Jim Thorpe, was placed on a DUI charge. She was arrested on Feb. 8 along Mauch Chunk Street by Mahoning Township police. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.She was assessed $600 and her license suspended for 60 days.Justin Anthony Cafaro, 38, of Albrightsville, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on March 1 along Route 534 in Penn Forest Township by state police at Fern Ridge. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.He was assessed $600 and license suspended for 60 days.Chad Michael Hartranft, 39, of Lehighton, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on March 3 along Route 248 in Lower Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.He was assessed $600 and license suspended for 60 days.Joseph Antonio Monge, 25, of Coplay, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on May 24 along Route 248 in Parryville by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.He was assessed $600 and license suspended for 60 days.Michael Patrick Quinn, 32, of Hadon Township, New Jersey, was placed on a DUI charge. He was arrested on May 8 along Indian Hill Road in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.He was assessed $600 and license suspended for 60 days.Laura E. Rinehimer, 29, of Williamsport, was placed on a charge of simple assault. He was arrested on June 12 by state police at Lehighton for assaulting Jason Temell Greaux in Parryville.She was assessed $450 and ordered to render 100 hours of community service and pay any restitution as determined by the adult probation office.Each defendant must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
