Man admits giving alcohol to teenagers

A Carbon County man admitted Thursday in the county court that he gave alcohol to a teen who supplied it to four others, one of which ended up in the hospital.

Dylan Joseph Lavecchia, 21, of Lehighton, pleaded guilty before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II to one count of furnishing alcohol to a minor. In a plea bargain four other counts were dropped.Lavecchia was arrested on April 6 when Palmerton police were called to the Palmerton hospital for a 14-year-old female unconscious from alcohol consumption. Through the investigation police learned that Lavecchia supplied the alcohol to a 14-year-old male. In all, five juveniles consumed the alcohol.Lavecchia told Nanovic he gave the alcohol to a male, and not the female who ended up in the hospital. He claimed he didn't know the teen he supplied the alcohol to was going to share it with others.Nanovic said he hoped Lavecchia learned from the experience and the consequences that could have happened with the teen ending up in the hospital. She has since recovered.Nanovic placed him on probation for a year and ordered he pay a fine of $1,000, get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, pay court costs of about $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
