Carbon County Commissioners closed out positions for lifeguards for the season.

On Thursday, the board approved the following personnel actions regarding the resignations of lifeguards. They are as follows:• Kasaundra L. Barclay of Lehighton, Samantha R. McCarthy of Coaldale and Danielle R. Spillman of Jim Thorpe, effective Sept. 7; Erin M. Bucci and Gianna L. Bucci, both of Jim Thorpe, effective Aug. 14; Kassandra E. Gray of Lansford, effective Aug. 30; Kasey M. Herman of Jim Thorpe, effective Aug. 19; Kendall J. Juracka of Jim Thorpe, effective Aug. 16; Katie Mongi of Summit Hill, effective July 31; Marykate Sherkness of Tresckow, effective Aug. 7; and Alex S.M. Steigerwalt of Jim Thorpe, effective Aug. 11.The season at Mauch Chunk Lake, where the lifeguards served, closed for the season Labor Day weekend.The commissioners also acted on the following personnel moves:• Accept the resignation of Carl R. Bachart of Weatherly as a deputy sheriff, effective Sept. 18.• Accept the resignation of Matthew P. Williams of Freeland as a deputy sheriff, effective Oct. 1.• Approve the hiring of William B. Maurer of Jim Thorpe as a part-time maintenance person for buildings and grounds, effective Sept. 28.
