Former postal worker indicted for theft

SCRANTON - The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced Tuesday that Lori Haberle, 45, of Kelayres, Schuylkill County, has been charged in a one-count indictment with misappropriation of postal funds by a federal grand jury in Scranton.

According to U.S. Attorney Peter Smith, in January through March 2015, Haberle, a postal service support employee, misappropriated postal funds at the Kelayres and Quakake Post Offices in Schuylkill County, resulting in a loss of at least $1,155 to the U.S. Postal Service.The investigation of this case was conducted by the United States Postal Service. Prosecution is assigned to Assistant U.S. Attorney John C. Gurganus Jr.Haberle faces a maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment and fines totaling $250,000.
