Slaying defendant seeks recusal of preliminary hearing judge

STROUDSBURG (AP) - A California man charged along with his ex-wife in the killing and dismemberment of a man in northeastern Pennsylvania more than 13 years ago is asking the judge scheduled to preside over his preliminary hearing to recuse herself.

Thirty-five-year-old James Britton Jr. and 46-year-old Stacy Britton of Twentynine Palms, California, are charged in Monroe County in the July 2002 murder of 46-year-old Robert Roudebush, whose charred remains were found in two barrels. The Pocono Record reports that Britton's attorney filed a motion Friday asking District Judge Colleen Mancuso to recuse herself because she is married to First Assistant District Attorney Michael Mancuso.Police allege that the defendants stabbed Roudebush in a Wilkes-Barre home and then beat and dismembered him because they thought he had stolen drugs and money.
