One year since shooting

State police gathered at the Pike County barracks Saturday on the anniversary of the attack in which a corporal was killed and a trooper wounded.

“Today, members of the Pennsylvania State Police gathered for one purpose, and that’s to remember Cpl. Bryon Dickson,” state police chaplain the Rev. Thomas Muldowney said after offering a blessing.On Sept. 12, 2014, a gunman opened fire on the barracks.Cpl. Bryon K. Dickson II, 38, of Dunmore, died at the scene.Trooper Alex T. Douglass, now 32, of Olyphant, is still recovering from serious wounds.Accused shooter Eric Frein is in prison awaiting trial.Saturday’s private blessing was not open to the public or media.The Rev. Muldowney spoke to a reporter about what was said at the intimate gathering but declined to say exactly who attended.“It was a time for us to get together to remember someone who we lost from the department, to pray for him and his family and to recognize the support that we have as a state police family,” he said.
