Tamaqua's 9/11 remembrance service will be held at 6 p.m. today at the South Ward Playground. This year's event will also serve as a memorial for Jackie "Nanny" Jones, one of the original organizers who passed away earlier this year.The public is welcome to attend and bring lawn chairs.The playground is located in the 200 block of Penn Street, at the intersection with Oak Street.Library eventsIt's back to school time and that means it's also Fall Storytime at the Tamaqua Public Library. The eight-week program will begin the week of Sept. 22.Sessions will be held twice a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 10 to 11 a.m. It is open to children between the ages of 2 and 5, but younger siblings are also welcome.For more information or to register, stop in at the library at 30 S. The sale will continue through Sept. 19.Gardening clinicSchuylkill County's Penn State Master Gardeners are offering two free gardening clinics to county residents interested in learning the basics of composting.Sessions will be held on Sept. 17 at Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley and Sept. 23 at Sweet Arrow Lake Park in Washington Township. The senior choir will perform the anthem this week.
