2 admit to drug counts

Two defendants in pending drug-related cases entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court on Thursday before Judge Steven R. Serfass.

Kaitlyn Mangone, 30, of Easton, pleaded to one count of possession of a controlled substance.She was arrested by Lehighton police in the 300 block of Ridge Street. Police were dispatched to the scene for a report of a female acting strangely. On scene police found Mangone behind the wheel of a car and under the influence of drugs. She admitted overmedicating herself on her oxycodone prescription.Mangone got a break from the district attorney's office when they agreed to drop a drunken driving charge.Mangone is currently serving a state prison term imposed in Northampton County court.Serfass placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to get both drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations, render 50 hours of community service and make restitution for damages to a Lehighton police cruiser and tests for a total of $565.37. The term runs consecutive to her state prison sentence.Melissa Fethiere, 22, of Lehighton, pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.She was arrested on Aug. 23, 2013, by Mahoning Township police at a safety checkpoint operation along Mauch Chunk Street. She was found to have a pipe to smoke marijuana in the vehicle. She was previously placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition program for first-time offenders but was revoked from it for violating conditions.Serfass placed her on probation for a year and ordered her to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and render 50 hours of community service.Both defendants must also pay court costs of about $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
