A Weatherly woman was sentenced to a prison term on Tuesday after previously pleading to charges of driving under the influence and endangering the welfare of a child.
Judge Steven R. Serfass sentenced Justine June Osborn, 28, to serve a total of one to 23 months in prison on the two charges.Osborn was arrested on Sept. 26, 2014, following a vehicle stop along Mauch Chunk Street by Mahoning Township police. Osborn's son was in the vehicle.Serfass told Osborn, "You made a poor choice driving with your child in the backseat of the car. Why did you do that?"Osborn said she had been drinking, but didn't think she was drunk.On the DUI charge she was sentenced to serve five days to six months in prison, a fine of $1,500, license suspended for 18 months and zero tolerance for drug and alcohol use.On the endangering charge she was sentenced to serve one to 23 months, concurrent with the DUI charge. She was also ordered to render a total of 250 hours of community service.She will begin the jail term at 4 p.m. Oct. 2 and serve it on consecutive two-day weekends.
