GIRARDVILLE, Pa. (AP) - State police say a Schuylkill County man has died at a hospital a day after going into cardiac arrest while authorities used a stun gun and handcuffs on him.
Police say troopers responding to a report of a disturbance found Lucas Markus running up and down a street in Girardville at around 4 a.m. Friday, trying to get into passing cars.
Police say the 33-year-old from Minersville didn't respond to verbal commands from the troopers, so they used a stun gun to subdue him. As he was being handcuffed, he went into cardiac arrest.
Troopers called for an ambulance and began CPR. Markus was flown to a Reading (REH'-ding) hospital, where he was pronounced dead Saturday.
Police say an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
