Franklin Twp. firefighters get $90,000 safety grant

U.S. Rep. Matt Cartwright announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has awarded a grant to Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company.

The funds will be distributed via the Federal Emergency Management Agency.The $90,667 operations and safety grant will enable the company to purchase 17 self-contained breathing apparatus, a device worn by firefighters to provide breathable air."The daily sacrifices made by our firefighters are instrumental to the safety of our communities," said Cartwright."I am proud to support this federal investment that will be utilized by the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company to better equip our brave firefighters and keep them safe."
