Four headed to prison in Schuylkill County

Schuylkill County Judge Jacqueline L. Russell has sentenced four people charged by local police to prison.

Patricia Derau, 42, of Lehighton: Charged by Tamaqua police with criminal conspiracy, delivery of a controlled substance, possession with intent to deliver, and possession of a controlled substance after a Sept. 26, 2013, incident.Charges of criminal conspiracy, possession with intent to deliver, and possession of a controlled substance were dropped in plea negotiations.Russell sentenced Derau to three to 23 months in prison, to perform 20 hours of community service, and to pay court costs and fees.Brian Danchak, 43, of Coaldale: Charged by Coaldale police with fleeing or attempting to elude an officer, resisting arrest, simple assault, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, six counts of failing to obey stop signs, three counts of improper signaling, three counts of failure to drive at a safe speed, reckless driving and careless driving after an incident on Aug. 25, 2014.Charges of fleeing, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, failing to obey stop signs, failure to drive at a safe speed, reckless driving and careless driving were dropped in plea negotiations.Russell sentenced Danchak to 72 hours to six months in prison and 20 hours of community service. He was also ordered to pay court costs and fees.Marc Corona, 21, of Brooklyn, New York: Charged by Coaldale police with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, violations of turning movements and required signals after an incident on June 28, 2014.The turning movements and signals charges were dropped in plea negotiations. Russell sentenced Corona to 72 hours to six months in prison and 20 hours of community service. He was also fined $1,000, and ordered to pay court costs and fees. Corona is required to successfully complete the Alcohol Highway Safety School, enroll in outpatient substance abuse treatment, and surrender his license for 12 months. He is also subject to random urine screenings.Jerry Adrey, 45, of Mahanoy City: Charged by Tamaqua police with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property after an incident of July 21, 2014. The charge of receiving stolen property was dropped in plea negotiations. Russell sentenced him to pay $30 in restitution to James Peterson and $193.90 to the county district attorney's office, and serve two days to six months in prison. Adrey must also perform 20 hours of community service, and pay court costs and fees.
