Dump truck rear-ends another in Palmerton

No injuries occurred after a dump truck rammed into another dump truck on the way into Palmerton Friday morning.

Palmerton Police Chief Randy Smith said the incident occurred at 7:39 a.m. when Carlos Adolfo Echeverri, 49, Elizabeth, New Jersey, was driving a dump truck east on Route 248 going into Palmerton.Smith said Echeverri was stopped at the traffic light when his vehicle was struck in the rear by another dump truck driven by John Hughes, 51, from East Orange, New Jersey.The truck that was stopped had no damage; however, the other truck had disabling damage and had to be towed at the scene by Schlier's towing, Smith said.Both trucks are owned by Doing It Right from Jersey City, New Jersey, he said.No citations were issued, Smith said.Also assisting at the scene were Palmerton Fire Company and Palmerton Fire Police.
