A water boil advisory has been issued for a portion of the Middle Ward section of Tamaqua following a water main break on Pine Street, Route 309, discovered after 2 p.m. Thursday.

The advisory was put in effect at 9 p.m. upon completion of repairs to a cracked pipe.

Nearby residents were without water for much of the day and crews were preparing to restore water service after darkness fell.

The boil advisory impacts residents of the 500 and 600 blocks of Pine Street and the 500 block of North Railroad Street.
