Donations to benefit needy in Carbon

Officials from Family Promise of Carbon County and Saint Luke's Hospital-Miners Campus met recently at the hospital in Coaldale to accept the total donations given for the needy families of Carbon County.

The collection was a partnered effort between the two entities, with donations being collected throughout nurses' week at Saint Luke's Miners Campus. The collection totaled in at $800 in monetary donations and a multitude of home items, like pillows and clothing. The items will be available to those who need them at Family Promise's office in Lehighton.Since 2011, Family Promise has helped low-income families and others in need by providing the homeless with a place to stay and helping families get back on their feet.Natalie Bojko, executive director for Family Promise, went to Saint Luke's to gather the donations, and says she is just as appreciative as the families who will receive the items given."It's tremendously exciting to see people giving for such a great cause," Bojko said. The collection may be over, but donations can still be made by visiting Family Promise's website at
