Summit Hill seeks help with mowing

The wet weather we've experienced this summer has created somewhat of a problem for Summit Hill borough.

The workforce can't keep up with constantly mowing grass and cutting weeds. If needed, borough secretary Kira Steber was given permission to call out workers from a list of people available for part-time hours.Council said the two-man workforce has been busy with other projects such as repairing potholes and doing street maintenance.Roobhenn Smith, president of the Anthracite Little League Association, suggested that the borough might utilize young people who need to complete required community hours for such chores as cutting grass.Council agreed that such volunteers would be welcome in the community.Councilman John O'Gurek said people could get up to 20 hours of work credit per week.Anyone needing community hours should contact Steber at the borough hall.Smith said he will be sending emails to people who would qualify to do such work.
