The annual Carbon County 4-H Picnic and Recognition event will be held on Aug. 18 at Mauch Chunk Lake Park in Jim Thorpe. The event opens at 5:30 p.m. at shelter 1, the Koch/Wildoner shelter. Activities will begin at 6 p.m. with a covered dish dinner.
It is open to all 4-H members and their families, as well as the county extension board, 4-H Development Committee and the public.Families are asked to bring a covered dish or dessert to share with everyone, as well as their own place settings and utensils. Hot dogs and barbecue, as well as beverages will be provided.Following dinner, awards and a recognition ceremony will take place.For more information, on ways to volunteer or to register for the event, call the extension office at 570-325-2788 or email Georgia Farrow, 4-H program assistant, at
gaf4@psu.edu by Aug. 12.Help is needed with setting up before the picnic, registration, cleaning up after the picnic, and help in serving food and preparing the hot dogs.Members of 4-H groups and leaders are also needed to perform the invocation, Pledge of Allegiance and 4-H pledge, as well as someone to play taps at the candlelight ceremony and volunteers to oversee the ceremony.
