A woman escaped serious injury Tuesday afternoon after colliding head-on with a tractor trailer on Route 443 in West Penn Township.

The crash occurred at 5 p.m. as she was traveling east about a quarter mile west of the intersection with Route 309.

For some unknown reason she entered the westbound lane impacting the rig.

The woman was evaluated by members of the Penn Mahoning ambulance. West Penn fire police maintained traffic control at the scene reducing traffic to one alternating lane.

West Penn township police Sgt. Melissa Ruch is investigating the incident.
