Kidder honors founding member of EAC

Twelve years ago, Kidder Township put together the Environmental Advisory Committee.

The EAC meets once a month and has been responsible for advising the supervisors on environmental issues, drafting ordinances, preparing comprehensive plans and generally acting as the environmental stewards of the township. In May, one of its founding members, Hank George, stepped down.On Thursday, before the board of supervisors meeting, the supervisors and current and former members of the EAC met to honor George with a shrub planted in his honor, as well as an engraved stone for the rain garden in front of the township building."As a founding member, I want to thank you for the many hours you devoted to the EAC over the last 12 years. You were the solid one that we could always count on to know the answer or to find the answer," said Frank Gillotti, president of the EAC. "You led us through comprehensive planning, stormwater and timbering ordinances and many more. Again, I thank you for your leadership and your professionalism."Your body will be replaced," Gillotti said. "But it will take a special person to replace your knowledge and expertise."George was visibly touched by the honor and the kind words of his friend and colleague."Anyone who knows me knows I am rarely at a loss for words," George said. "I am indeed speechless."
