Schuylkill opens bids for cameras

Three companies are vying for the job of installing security cameras at district judges' courts in Schuylkill County.

Commissioners on Wednesday opened bids for the work, and expect to award a contract when they meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday.The companies are STS 007 of Huntingdon Valley, Montgomery County, which bid $14,418; Northeastern Automated Technologies of Bloomsbury, which bid $21,668; and Spotts Brothers of Schuylkill Haven, which bid $24,850.The county will be reimbursed for the systems with state money through the Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts.The closed-circuit television systems, with interior and exterior cameras and network video recording systems will be installed at six of the seven district judges' courts.They are District Judge Stephen J. Bayer's court in Tamaqua; Christina Hale's in Frackville, David A. Plachko's in Port Carbon, James R. Ferrier's in Orwigsburg, David J. Rossi's in Tremont, and Anthony J. Kilker's in Shenandoah.District Judge James K. Reiley already has the system, which was installed last year, when his court was moved from North Centre Street in Pottsville a few blocks away to East Arch Street.
