Man found on floor amid frozen food

Tamaqua police have cited Drew Daniel LaBar, 26, of 45 N. Greenwood St., Tamaqua, after an incident on June 28.

Officers were dispatched to that address at 4:17 a.m. to assist EMS personnel with a medical emergency. Inside, they found LaBar passed out on the kitchen floor. There was frozen food covering him and ambulance staff tending to him.When he opened his eyes, his pupils were constricted, his speech was slurred and he appeared to be confused. He denied using any drugs.Before being taken to the hospital, LaBar was searched for weapons. Although no weapons were found, officers did remove seven wax paper bags containing brown powder, a bag with a white rock powder, a pink bag with half of a blue pill, and a glass smoking pipe with marijuana residue.The powders were field tested and were positive for heroin and cocaine.He was transported to St. Luke's Miners Hospital-Coaldale campus, for evaluation and treatment before being charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
