N. Lehigh reopens its wading pool

The Northern Lehigh swimming pool in Slatington has reopened its wading pool for the first time since last year when one of its underground pipes burst.

The wading pool has been closed down since the end of last season due to a broken underground pipe. "We didn't even get to finish out the season with it. Fixing the pipe ended up costing $92,000," pool supervisor Farrell Snyder said. Along with new piping, the fountain on the wading pool was completely replaced with a new one. After all of the replacements, Snyder was able to open it to the public two weeks into the Northern Lehigh pool's season.Along with the wading pool improvements, the public swimming pool's management also added automatic hand dryers and soap dispensers to both bathrooms as well as new paint to the benches alongside the pools. The Northern Lehigh swimming pool will be holding a free swim day from noon to 8 p.m. on Sunday. The pool is open from noon to 8 p.m. seven days a week until after Labor Day when it closes for the season. Season membership passes are $70 for a family of two and $210 for families of six or more. Daily admission is $6 for ages 14 and up and $5 for ages 2 to 13. Children under 2 years old enter for free.
