A Northampton woman was found guilty on Tuesday by a Carbon County jury of persistent disorderly conduct following a one-day trial.
Barbara J. Cassium, 68, was arrested by Lansford police following an incident on June 5, 2014, at the borough police station.The report of arresting officer Brian Horos indicated he had a male in custody who was in possession of marijuana. Cassium, the defendant's grandmother, showed up at the police station and became irate, complaining about police harassment.After leaving the station, Cassium raised a disturbance outside, police said, which led to her arrest.Cassium claimed that Horos was the one who was disruptive. She said the officer was out of control.The commonwealth was represented by Assistant District Attorney Cynthia Ann Dyrda Hatton. Attorney John Everett Cook was counsel for Cassium.Presiding Judge Joseph J. Matika continued Cassium's bail and deferred sentencing to a later date.
