Weissport to seek part-time worker

At the Monday's meeting, borough council decided to advertise for part-time maintenance help.

Councilwomen Brenda Leiby and Paulette Watson made and seconded a motion directing the secretary to advertise for part-time help.Councilman Arland Moyer said, "The staff we do have are spending most of their time with the sewer authority."During discussion, it was noted that the only person performing maintenance tasks such as mowing grass, painting and repairing potholes was Moyer. Council unanimously agreed to advertise for additional help.During the Parks and Recreation Committee report, Leiby questioned how the recent yard sale was, saying, "The park was very crowded," referring to the community yard sale held May 23.Linda Schoenberger, who is involved with the yard sale, said, "There were 96 vendors present, we made approximately $1,200."Council voted unanimously to rescind a portion of an ordinance that eliminated parking on White Street from Bridge Street to Park Street.Leiby said, "This is at the west end of the park, along White Street." For many years, there were two parking spaces in this area, and previous council enacted the ordinance not allowing parking on this section. With the businesses in the immediate area, council felt it was important to add the parking.
