Marian students receive awards

Four Marian Catholic High School students received awards during the Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science State Competition held at Penn State University Park. Patrick Darrough, left, was awarded a $2,000 yearly scholarship to the Penn State University College of Engineering, Pennsylvania Science Talent Search Junior Award, and First Place Presentation Award in Biology; Aiden Hinchey received a First Place Presentation Award in Chemistry; Henry Hinchey earned a Pennsylvania Science Talent Search Junior Award and First Place Presentation Award in Chemistry; and Aaron Srinivasan took home the Karl F. Oerlein $50 cash award and Perfect Score First PlacePresentation Award from all judges in Microbiology. The students were accompanied by Robert Valente, Marian Catholic Science teacher, and Lorraine Piehota, retired Bishop Hafey Science instructor.
