A camera worth more than 1,000 photos
By now I am sure you all are aware of my passion for photography.
As much as I love taking baby, family or senior pictures for people, I really just love to stop everything, (including the car), and take pictures of things that stir my heart and make me happy. If I could I would have a camera strapped to my neck during all of my waking hours so that I would never miss a shot.Today, I read a most interesting article about an emerging photographer who may very well take the photography world by storm. His name is Grizzler and if that sounds like a strange name for a photographer, it should because Grizzler is a dog; a Border Collie to be exact and what makes Grizzler the photographer's work really special is that his images come straight from the heart; literally. It would seem that Nikon-Asia has created a device that when attached to a camera that is strapped to Grizzler, will read his heartbeat and when he becomes excited, or nervous causing his heart rate to increase, sends a message to the camera via Bluetooth technology instructing the camera to fire and snap an image of Grizzler's object of interest. How cool is that!On the Nikon-Asia website are various photos that were a direct result of things that made Grizzler's heart flutter.Photos included pictures of other dogs that he came in contact with, cats and other wildlife, a pair of flip flops (a definite favorite of my Spencer as evidenced by all of the teeth marks in every pair we own) food, garbage and even some scenery.Oh how I love this concept!Although, I think Nikon would also have to come up with the technology to offer the ultimate in image stabilization to counteract any movement of a happy and excited dog or any other animal. Come to think of it, I sure could use that kind of image stabilization on my own Nikon especially with my clumsy feet and shaky hands. But how much fun it would be to take my Spencer out on a hike or a walk down a busy street with both of us donning our cameras and snapping away at whatever caught our eyes.I think it would be very interesting for me to later look at his images to get an idea as to what really stirs him and to get a bit of a glimpse as to what goes on inside that beautiful doggy head of his.I imagine it would help to establish a deeper connection with him as I will know what things really interest him and can then give him more exposure to those things.Additionally, I could hire him as my assistant to get those shots that are just too low to the ground for my arthritic body to capture.I think wearing that device myself would be beneficial as well. For starters I could have one camera plastered to my face and the other strapped to my chest and capture the same image from two different perspectives.I think it would also be good for hubby to determine what to get me for Christmas.I mean, wearing that thing while shopping in the mall would reveal those things that really catch my eye providing him with an image of that exact item whereby totally eliminating that whole holiday gift guessing conundrum and avoiding any possibility of hurt feelings resulting from an ill-received gift.Of course, any unexpected photos of handsome men showing up on my SD card could result in me getting myself into a bit of hot water.I don't know when this technology will be made available to the public, but I am anxious to see all of the possibilities.
