5K walk/run promotes greyhound adoption

The Greyt Hound Hustle 5K Run/Walk, in memory of Scarlett, is set for June 6 at Tuscarora State Park.

The event is hosted by Pocono Greyhound Adoption, a not-for-profit organization, to promote retired racing greyhound adoption.Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the Run/Walk will start at 10 a.m. A 1-mile kids fun run will start at 11:30 a.m.The course is a slightly challenging 5K with moderate hills. There will be a 100-meter run for children 10 and under.The event will go on, rain or shine. Dogs are welcome on the course, but owners are asked to be respectful to the other competitors by only walking your dogs. Running is prohibited.This will be a timed event with awards for the top five finishers in each age group (11-15, 16-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60 and older).Race shirts will be included in race packet (preregistered only), greyhound merchandise will be sold all day. There will be free parking and free post-race refreshments.Participants may register online at Active.com or Poconogreyhound.org. (mail-in form available).Pocono Greyhound Adoption's mission is to provide education to the public about retired racing greyhounds and their desirability as pets. It also raises funds in order to care for and place retired greyhounds in a permanent home.Volunteers and their greyhounds will be available to meet and greet and answer questions about greyhound adoption.
