Carbon man admits assault with BB gun

A Carbon County man admitted to assault with a BB gun and a drug count on Thursday in the county court.

Justin Conklin, 20, of Lehighton, pleaded guilty before President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II to one count each of simple assault and possession of drug paraphernalia.On May 24, 2013, Palmerton police responded to the area of 608 W. Princeton Ave. to a report of a drive-by shooting. On scene, Anthony Saslo told officers a car drove by him and a passenger fired at him. Saslo gave a description of the vehicle.Police later found the vehicle with Conklin a passenger. He was placed under arrest, and while being arrested police found drug paraphernalia. Also, police found an air-gun which fires plastic BBs. Conklin admitted he fired two rounds from the gun at Saslo.He told Nanovic he fired at Saslo because he thought he stole money from a friend and he wanted to get it back.Nanovic placed him on probation for a year on the simple assault charge and for six months on the possession count, with the terms running consecutively.Conklin was also ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, zero tolerance imposed on D&A use, pay court costs of about $1,000, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
