Sun-Wolf Acevedo, 22, of Willow Drive, Jim Thorpe has waived his right to a preliminary hearing before District Justice Edward Lewis.
Acevedo is accused of the rape of a 14-year-old girl in June of 2013.In addition to the rape charge, Acevedo also faces 10 additional charges ranging from disseminating sexual material to a minor, unlawful conduct with a minor, criminal use of a communication facility and indecent exposure. Of the 11 charges pending, nine are felonies.The 2013 rape, which is alleged to have taken place in the EvergreenCemetery, is not the only incident from which the charges stem. Acevedo has also been charged in a separate complaint with sending and requesting sexually explicit photos from a 13-year-old girl.Acevedo was interviewed by JimThorpe Detective Lee Marzen and Officer Matthew Schwarz on March 18. Marzen wrote that Acevedo admitted to having sex with the teen and performing a sexual act, knowing she was 14-years-old.According to the report written by Schwarz, Acevedo also admitted to five to 10 incidents where he sent pictures to underage girls.Acevedo appeared in Lewis' court for his preliminary hearing, but waived his right to a hearing before facing any of his accusers. He is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial hearing at Carbon County Courthouse on July 2 at 9 a.m. In the meantime, Acevedo remains free on $50,000 bail.
