Lehighton man sentenced for DUI, drugs in Carbon

A Carbon County man was sentenced to a county prison term on Tuesday on two counts of driving under the influence and a drug charge.

He previously pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced on drunken driving counts by Judge Steven R. Serfass.Curtis Lee Margle, 24, of Lehighton was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in jail on each count of DUI, with the terms running consecutively, and one year probation on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, also running consecutively to the other counts.Margle was arrested on the first DUI on July 6, 2014, along Route 209 in Lehighton. He refused a test.The second arrest occurred on Aug. 4, 2014, along Route 248 in Bowmanstown after he was stopped for speeding. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance. Also at the stop drug paraphernalia was found. Both arrests were made by state police at Lehighton.On the DUI charges he was ordered to pay a total of $2,000 in fines, had his license suspended for two years, and must render a total of 100 hours of community service during the length of the entire sentence.Margle is currently in the county prison on other charges.
