ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Testimony is expected to begin in the trial of an eastern Pennsylvania police chief's son accused of pointing a gun at county detectives.
The Morning Call reports jury selection ended Tuesday and testimony is expected to start Wednesday afternoon in the trial of 23-year-old Christopher Fitzgerald.Fitzgerald, the son of Allentown Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald, faces simple assault and reckless endangerment charges.Prosecutors say he aimed a gun at two undercover detectives following an alleged road-rage incident in August.Defense attorney Jack McMahon says Fitzgerald never pointed the gun at detectives but was holding it for protection. His girlfriend and 1-year-old son were in the car. McMahon says Fitzgerald is a "good kid" and wouldn't pull a gun on an officer.Fitzgerald had a permit to carry the weapon.
