Carbon retirement fund performing well

Carbon County's retirement fund is performing well, officials report.

During the monthly meeting of the county retirement board last week, Robert Crampsie, county controller and secretary to the retirement board, announced that the retirement portfolio value as of April 30 was $75,013,003.Crampsie pointed out that the fund was up about $507,000 from the end of March.Two investment managers were also present at the meeting to provide the county with its quarterly reports on portfolio performances.Guests included Mark Gensheimer, president of C.S. McKee L.P. of Pittsburgh; and Kenneth Mertz, CIO and president of Emerald Advisers Inc.Gensheimer and Mertz provided reports on overall performances of the investments they manage for the county, as well as future projections.In addition, the county also voted to rebalance its portfolio.
