Women rescued after fall at Glen Onoko

Firefighters from five communities were called to a rescue operation at the Glen Onoko Falls. At 1:30 p.m. Sunday emergency personnel were dispatched to an incident where two women fell at the first set of falls, one falling between 12 and 15 feet and suffering a serious back injury. Rescue workers took about an hour to extricate thevictim. She was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics and transported to a local trauma center. When rescuers first arrivedon scene they were greeted by a 5-foot black snake sunning itselfat the gate to the railroad bed. Rescuers were warned to lookfor rattlesnakes, which are likely in the area.
