Man charged with DUI after Mahoning crash

A man wanted by Mahoning Township Police in connection with a DUI crash has turned himself in to authorities.

At 4:02 p.m. Jan. 23, Mahoning Township Police investigated a two-vehicle accident with serious injury on Route 902 at the Summit Hill border.The investigation showed a 1993 Chevy pickup traveling north toward Summit Hill crossed the center line, striking a southbound Kia Sportage.The road was closed for about one hour while the drivers were extricated by the Lehighton, Mahoning, and Summit Hill Fire Departments.Each driver was flown by medical helicopter for treatment of their injuries.The driver of the Kia, Timothy Kistler, of West Penn Township, suffered a right femoral neck fracture, open right femoral shaft fracture, right patella fracture and other injuries.The driver of the Chevy, Thomas Kolb, 40, of Weissport, admitted he had used marijuana and alcohol.A blood test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent in addition to the presence of Delta-9 Carboxy THC.Kolb has been charged with aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, four counts of DUI; possession of drug paraphernalia, careless driving, and driving vehicle at an unsafe speed.
