Shows tonight, Saturday at opera house

Back by popular demand Spottiswoode & His Enemies return to perform another episode of "40 Story Radio Tower" tonight at 8 o'clock.

"40 Story Radio Tower" is a stage show recorded live for podcast. It's a celebration of the spoken word, through plays, comedies, and poetry, and of new live music, all presented in a radio show format.This month's featured guests qualify as one of the most eclectic acts around. Referred to as a "genius" and a "downtown ringleader" by The New Yorker, Spottiswoode is the son of an American singer and an English clergyman. WNYC's John Schaefer describes him as "one of New York's more colorful band leaders for more than a decade."Drawing comparisons to everyone from Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen and Randy Newman to Ray Davies and Nick Cave, they have been profiled on NPR's Weekend Edition, World Cafe and Soundcheck. Paste Magazine describes the live show as "nothing short of transportive!"Their Independent Music Award-winning album, "Wild Goosechase Expedition," was recently featured as the closing song of the final episode of the new Netflix series, "Bloodline."Tickets are $10.On Saturday, Greg Ransom's "Bennie and the Jets, a Tribute to Elton John" is back.Bennie and the Jets is the premiere Elton John Tribute Band. The band is led by Ransom whose vocals, stage mannerisms, and piano playing are exactly like those of Elton John.Backed up by an incredible band of musicians, Ransom has the ability to make you believe that you're at an Elton John concert.If you were to attend an Elton John concert today, you would miss seeing the plumage and costumes of yesteryear.
