Cases are waived to county court

A Tamaqua man, accused of stealing funds from a youth sports organization, waived his preliminary hearing, which was scheduled to be heard in the court of District Judge Stephen Bayer, of Tamaqua. His case will now be heard in Schuylkill County court.

Ralph Scott Winterburn, 53, of 327 Railroad St., was charged with felony counts of theft by unlawful taking, failure to make required disposition of funds, theft by deception and receiving stolen property after a forensic audit was conducted on the account of the Tamaqua Boys Basketball Boosters. The charges, including a misdemeanor count of tampering with records, were filed by Tamaqua Cpl. Henry Woods on Jan. 24.Winterburn was released on $25,000 unsecured bail.There were also a number of other cases scheduled to be heard by Bayer. All were waived to county court.Monica Russop, 49, of 216 Owl Creek Road, Tamaqua, faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. The charges were filed by Tamaqua patrolman Adam Sinton following a Feb. 14 incident.She was released on her own recognizance.Joel T. Vermillion, 25, of 443 Glenwood Ave., Tamaqua, was charged with two counts of manufacture/possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communications facility and possession of a controlled substance. The charges were filed by Tamaqua Police Chief Rick Weaver and patrolman Anthony Stanell. Vermillion was charged in connection with an Aug. 13, 2014, drug sale.He was released on $1,000 percentage bail.Christopher White, 28, of 295 High St., Tamaqua, waived his hearing on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. A charge of possession of a controlled substance was withdrawn by the arresting officer, Rush Township patrolman Adam Sinton. The charge stems from a June 21, 2014, incident.He was released on his own recognizance.Christina L. Kieffer, 27, of 52 Fifth St., Coaldale, was charged with retail theft by Coaldale Police Sgt. Keith Krapf. The charge was filed following a Dec. 21, 2014, incident.She was released on her own recognizance.Kristine A. Moyer, 60, of 213 W. Broad St., Tamaqua, will go to county court on a charge of harassment, filed by Tamaqua patrolman Karl Harig after a Jan. 2 incident.She was released on her own recognizance.Norman J. Sterling Jr., 59, of 625 Arlington St., Tamaqua, was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, careless driving and disregard of a traffic lane. The charges were filed by Coaldale patrolman Joseph David after a May 30, 2014, incident.He was released on his own recognizance.Edward John Farley, 47, of 135 Faith Road, Sugarloaf, Luzerne County, faces charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, reckless driving, careless driving and failure to yield after a Jan. 31 incident. The charges were filed by Rush Township patrolman Thomas Fort.He was released on his own recognizance.Ann Elizabeth Morris, 57, of Stroudsburg, was charged with driving under the influence by Rush Township patrolman Sinton. The charges stem from a Feb. 4 incident.She was released on her own recognizance.
