Virginia resident cited for drugs in McAdoo

A Virginia man was cited by McAdoo police on April 16 after an incident in the Fegley Mini Mart parking lot.

An officer on patrol pulled into the lot at 2:18 a.m. and noticed a green Chevrolet Trailblazer parked off to the side, with its hood up.The officer went to check and see if any assistance was needed. The male, later identified as Charles Annis III of Virginia, said the vehicle was overheating and he was just waiting for it to cool down. While speaking with Annis and a female passenger, the officer noted a strong odor of marijuana and asked both for identification.During a records check the officer discovered that Annis was wanted in Arkansas, but the warrant was only to extradite within that state. As the officer went back to the Blazer he observed the woman taking some pills. She appeared to be somewhat frantic and told the officer she was taking a drug prescribed for her.She did show him the prescription bottle. At this time Annis told the officer his passenger suffered from anxiety and seizure disorders. He also refused to consent to a search and was placed in the back of the police cruiser. The female passenger became even more upset about this and began shaking. She got out of the vehicle and fell to the ground. The officer noted her pupils were extremely dilated and called for an ambulance.Meanwhile, Annis consented to a search. The officer found marijuana in his front pocket. He was charged with possession of marijuana. The woman was transported to the hospital.
