Monroe man charged with trafficking

The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced that a federal grand jury in Scranton indicted a Monroe County man late Tuesday on charges of distribution and possession with intent to distribute heroin.

According to U.S. Attorney Peter Smith, the grand jury alleges that Ronald Walker, 22, of Tobyhanna, distributed and possessed with intent to deliver heroin on four separate occasions in July and August 2014 in Monroe County.The charges stem from an investigation by special agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Pennsylvania State Police, and the Monroe County Drug Task Force.Assistant U.S. Attorney Francis P. Sempa is prosecuting the case.In this case, the maximum penalty under the federal statute is 20 years imprisonment of supervised release following imprisonment, and a $1 million fine.
